SURPASSPORT in support of coaching for
Participation and Physical Activity

Children are encouraged to play multiple sports well into their teens, but over half no longer play club sports by the time they reach 6th year (CSPPA 2018, Woods et al).

Sport plays an important role in preparing children and youths for life, building positive habits of being active, building confidence and resilience and fostering social belonging. Promoting participation and physical activity are really important and in a club context, make for more dynamic training sessions, build membership and skilled adult competitors.

SURPASSPORT is your player centred team management system, uniquely providing you with information to connect with each individual player, to help them get the most from the experience and to motivate them to practice until you next see them.

Tracking Enjoyment

Fun is core to participation. Very few commit to sport if they're not enjoying it. Even at elite standards, it's important to look forward to training or competition. Otherwise, why bother?

Fun is individual. It's being with their mates. It's discovering their physicality. It's mastering a new skill. And for some, it's about winning. Coaching sessions are structured to encourage fun.

After each and every session, players are asked: How did you enjoy today's 'Training'?, rating it with one of four smiley faces, building a pattern over time that's always visible to the coaching team, but NOT shared beyond the team.

The Children's Officer can optionally enable a monitor on attendance and fun, generating an alert when risks of drop out become significant, allowing a proactive engagement with the player (or their parent) to address concerns before the player becomes another statistic on a national report.

Forward Planning

Sometimes life gets in the way, but much of the time players could have attended, if they (or their parents) had known about it in time.

Adding league fixtures for a season only takes a few minutes. Once the players are linked to the fixture, it appears on their schedule. Even if the dates are set, but the opponent remains flexible, using Placeholders allows you to reserve the sport with your players and finalise details, including team(s) selection closer to the time.

Sometimes a little advance planning can reduce stress levels across the board.

Recovery from Injury

Injury has an immediate impact on participation: it's stops!

The SURPASSPORT Return to Play infrastructure ensures that recovery is coordinated with all interested parties, advising them as recovery passes through each stage. Injuries are proactively communicated, always highlighted to coaches on team sheets and automatic decline on availability for activities that exceed the recommended intensity.

Player (parent), coaches, teachers and /or therapist work together to support a safe return to play.

Efficient Communications

Regular reminders and requests for feedback encourage participation. All activities trigger a reminder 24 hours before. Requesting availability couldn't be easier. And include feedback on lifts / drivers for away fixtures too.

SURPASSPORT recognises when the time or date (or location) has changed for a match, and automatically notifies affected players. If the date changes and availability was requested, it resets previous responses and asks again!

Coaches can send a notes to all players, players on a particular panel or just one player, but with Child Safeguarding covered. Parents for players under 18 receive the message. Coach cannot directly contact only the underage player.

Simplified Admin

Participation is not just about the players. Most coaches are volunteers, giving their time freely to promote and develop the sport they love. Until the paperwork strikes. Attendance needs to be recorded. Tracking Availability for the upcoming league match, and then borrowing a few players from another squad.

SURPASSPORT excels at temporary events, such as Summer Camp. Registration allows capture of pertinent information, for example Medical Conditions, planning activities and ensuring that coordinators can securely access information when needed.

Our aim in building SURPASSPORT was to improve how sports are managed, for the benefit of the athletes AND the coaches!
